Functional medicine testing.

Functional medicine testing in Jacksonville looks for why you feel the way you do. We offer DUTCH hormone testing, the Organic Acids Test, food sensitivity testing, genetic testing, and bloodwork at our Southside Jacksonville and Orange Park offices.

01 — WHAT IT IS

Answers, not more guessing. Then a plan.

Functional medicine testing looks for the reasons behind your symptoms. At Meridian, that means DUTCH hormone testing, the Organic Acids Test, food sensitivity testing, genetic testing, and comprehensive bloodwork, chosen to fit your symptoms and reviewed with you in plain language.

Many people come to us after being told their labs are normal. Standard labs are built to catch disease. Functional testing asks a different question: what is pushing your body off balance right now, and what can you do about it?

Testing starts with a conversation. Your first functional medicine visit runs 45–60 minutes. We pick the tests that answer your questions, and you leave knowing exactly what we are checking and why.

02 — SYMPTOMS

Signs testing is worth it

Tired all the time
You sleep, and you still wake up worn out. Coffee gets you to lunch and not much further.
Bloating and gut trouble
Gas, bloating, reflux, or bathroom habits that change from week to week.
Hormone swings
Irregular cycles, hot flashes, low drive, or mood that shifts with no clear reason.
Weight that will not move
You eat well and exercise, and the scale stays put.
Brain fog
Trouble focusing, losing words, or feeling a step behind.
Told your labs are normal
Your standard bloodwork came back fine, and you still do not feel fine.
04 — GOOD TO KNOW

How testing works at Meridian

Step one is your first visit, in person, at Southside Jacksonville or Orange Park. We go through your symptoms, diet, sleep, stress, medications, and any recent labs.

Step two is testing. Some tests are done at home with a kit and mailed to the lab. Others need a blood draw. We explain each one before you start.

Step three is your results review. We go through every result with you and show how it connects to what you feel day to day.

Step four is the plan. Nutrition, targeted supplements, lifestyle changes, and follow-up. Established patients can do follow-ups by video.

Gut first, then stress, then hormones

Our protocols follow a set order. The gut comes first, because digestion and absorption affect everything downstream. Next comes the adrenal and stress system. Hormones come after that.

Testing follows the same order. That is why many plans start with the Organic Acids Test and a look at digestion before going deep on hormones.

Not sure where you fit? Take the free gut and metabolic assessment. It takes a few minutes and shows which areas stand out for you.

Why 'normal' labs can still leave you feeling off

A standard panel compares you to a wide reference range. You can sit inside that range and still feel tired, foggy, or bloated.

Functional testing adds information standard labs do not show, such as your cortisol pattern across the day, gut bacteria and yeast markers, and how your body processes hormones.

Keep seeing the doctor you already have. Our testing works alongside your regular care, and we are happy to share results with your physician.

Who we see for testing

People with ongoing fatigue, gut trouble, SIBO or SIFO symptoms, thyroid concerns, hormone changes, autoimmune conditions, and stubborn weight.

We see patients from Southside, Baymeadows, Deerwood, Mandarin, Orange Park, Fleming Island, Middleburg, and across Jacksonville.

05 — COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions, answered.

What is functional medicine testing?
Functional medicine testing looks for the reasons behind symptoms, not just a name for them. At Meridian that means a full history first, then the tests that fit your symptoms: DUTCH hormone testing, the Organic Acids Test, food sensitivity testing, genetic testing, and bloodwork. Your results are reviewed with you and turned into a step-by-step plan.
Where can I get functional medicine testing in Jacksonville?
At Meridian Integrative Wellness. Southside Jacksonville: 9770 Old Baymeadows Rd #139, Jacksonville, FL 32256, (904) 379-9412. Orange Park: 1532 Kingsley Ave #102, Orange Park, FL 32073, (904) 541-4826. Both offices are open Monday through Thursday 9am–7pm and Friday 8am–5pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
Which test do I need?
That is what the first visit is for. It runs 45–60 minutes. We go through your symptoms, history, and any labs you already have, then choose the tests that answer your questions. Most people do not need every test.
What is microbiome testing at Meridian?
For gut questions such as SIBO and SIFO, we use the Organic Acids Test. It is a urine test that shows markers made by bacteria and yeast in the gut, along with nutrient and energy markers. It is done at home and mailed to the lab.
Are these tests done at home?
Several are. The DUTCH test and the Organic Acids Test are both urine collections you do at home with a kit. Bloodwork and some panels need a blood draw. We walk you through each one before you start.
Does insurance cover functional medicine testing?
Specialized labs such as DUTCH and the Organic Acids Test are usually not covered by insurance. Standard bloodwork often is. In-network status varies by plan. We verify your benefits before your first visit. We tell you what applies to you before anything is ordered.
Why do you start with the gut?
Our protocols follow a set order: gut first, then the adrenal and stress system, then hormones. A gut that is not digesting and absorbing well can throw off the rest, so testing and treatment are sequenced to match.
Can I do follow-ups by video?
Yes. Your first visit is in person. Established patients can do follow-up visits, including results reviews, by video.
