The Webster Technique.

Gentle pelvic balancing for pregnancy, from a Webster Certified chiropractor in Jacksonville and Orange Park.

01 — WHAT IT IS

A balanced pelvis. More room for you and baby.

Pregnancy changes your body fast. Your belly grows, your center of gravity moves forward, and the hormone relaxin loosens the ligaments in your pelvis. When the pelvis and sacrum shift out of balance, the ligaments that hold the uterus can pull unevenly. That is where a lot of pregnancy back, hip, and pelvic pain comes from.

The Webster Technique is a gentle chiropractic method built for exactly this. It finds where the sacrum and pelvis are out of balance and corrects them with light, specific adjustments. It also releases tension in the round ligament, the band on each side of the uterus that often causes sharp pain when you stand up or roll over.

At Meridian, Webster care is done by Dr. Jessica Bellinger, a Webster Technique Certified Practitioner whose practice centers on prenatal and pediatric care.

— CALL YOUR OB FIRST
Call your OB, midwife, or 911 right away for vaginal bleeding, fluid leaking, regular contractions before 37 weeks, a severe headache, vision changes, sudden swelling in your face or hands, or if your baby is moving much less than usual. Chiropractic care is for comfort and support, not for pregnancy emergencies.
— GOOD TO KNOW

What Webster certification means

The Webster Technique has its own training and certification program, run by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. A certified chiropractor has completed that training in how to analyze and adjust a pregnant patient's sacrum and pelvis.

Dr. Jessica Bellinger holds that certification. She graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic and has been licensed in Florida since 2017. When you book a prenatal visit at Meridian, you are booked with her.

What it feels like

Most moms are surprised by how gentle it is. You lie on a table built for a pregnant belly, so there is no pressure on baby. The adjustment itself is quick, with light pressure. The ligament work feels like a light, steady hold on the side of your belly.

Many moms say they walk out standing taller and breathing easier. If anything feels uncomfortable, you tell us and we change it.

Webster and a breech baby

Here is the honest version. The Webster Technique is not a breech-turning technique, and no chiropractor should promise to turn your baby. What it does is balance your pelvis and ease tension on the ligaments that hold your uterus.

A balanced pelvis gives your baby more room to move. That is why many moms with a breech baby add Webster care alongside whatever their OB recommends. We keep your OB or midwife in the loop the whole way. Read more on our breech baby page.

— COMMON QUESTIONS

Webster Technique, answered.

What is the Webster Technique?
The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic analysis and gentle adjustment for pregnancy. It checks the sacrum (the base of the spine) and the pelvis, then balances them and eases tension in the muscles and ligaments that support the uterus. It is done on a pregnancy table that makes room for your belly, with light pressure.
Is there a Webster certified chiropractor in Jacksonville?
Yes. Dr. Jessica Bellinger at Meridian is a Webster Technique Certified Practitioner. She sees prenatal patients at our Southside Jacksonville and Orange Park offices.
When should I start Webster Technique care?
Any time during pregnancy. Many moms start in the first or second trimester to stay ahead of back and pelvic pain. Others come in during the third trimester when pain picks up or when they want to prepare the pelvis for birth. There is no bad time to start.
Is the Webster Technique safe?
Yes. It is gentle, uses light pressure, and is done on a pregnancy table that takes the pressure off your belly. Before care starts we take a full history and coordinate with your OB or midwife if you have a high-risk pregnancy or any complication.
Does the Webster Technique turn a breech baby?
No. Webster is not a technique for turning babies, and we will never promise that. It balances the mother's pelvis and eases ligament tension. A balanced pelvis gives your baby more room to move, and many moms with a breech baby choose Webster care for that reason, alongside their OB's plan.
How often will I come in?
It depends on how you feel and how far along you are. Many moms come in every two to three weeks mid-pregnancy and weekly in the last month. Your chiropractor will set a plan with you at your first visit.
Does insurance cover the Webster Technique?
Webster is a chiropractic adjustment, so it is usually billed like other chiropractic care. Coverage depends on your plan. Our team checks your benefits before your first visit so you know what to expect.
