Your baby needs room to move.

Hearing that your baby is breech is stressful. You have a due date coming and a birth plan in mind. The good news: you have options, and there are things you can do right now.

A baby's position is affected by how much room there is in the uterus. When the pelvis is out of balance, the ligaments that hold the uterus can pull unevenly and leave less room on one side. The Webster Technique is a gentle chiropractic method that balances the pelvis and eases that ligament tension.

We will be straight with you. Webster care does not turn babies, and we never promise that it will. It gives your body and your baby the best conditions to work with, alongside whatever your OB or midwife recommends.

Simple positions and stretches you can do between visits to keep your pelvis balanced.

Call your OB, midwife, or 911 right away for vaginal bleeding, fluid leaking, regular contractions before 37 weeks, a severe headache, vision changes, sudden swelling in your face or hands, or if your baby is moving much less than usual.

Breech is common earlier in pregnancy

Many babies are head-up for part of the second trimester and turn on their own as the weeks go on. If your baby is breech early, there is usually no reason to worry yet.

It matters more in the third trimester, when there is less room to move. That is when most moms start looking for options, and when starting care sooner gives you more visits before your due date.

How Webster care fits with your OB

Your OB or midwife leads your pregnancy and your birth plan. That includes any decision about an ECV, where your OB tries to turn the baby by hand. We do not replace any of that.

What we add is a balanced pelvis and less ligament tension. With your permission, we keep your OB or midwife in the loop, so everyone is working from the same page.

Breech baby questions.

Can a chiropractor turn a breech baby?
No chiropractor should promise that, and we won't. What we do is balance your pelvis with the Webster Technique and ease tension on the ligaments that hold your uterus. A balanced pelvis gives your baby more room to move. Your OB or midwife stays in charge of your baby's position and your birth plan.
When should I come in if my baby is breech?
As soon as your OB or midwife mentions it. Many babies are head-up in the second trimester and turn on their own, so there is no need to panic early. If your baby is still breech in the third trimester, starting Webster care sooner gives you more visits before your due date.
Is it safe to see a chiropractor with a breech baby?
Yes. The Webster Technique is gentle, uses light pressure, and is done on a pregnancy table that takes the pressure off your belly. We take a full history first and coordinate with your OB or midwife, especially if you have a high-risk pregnancy or any complication.
Can I do Webster care and an ECV?
Talk to your OB about timing. An ECV (external cephalic version) is a procedure your OB does to try to turn the baby by hand. Some moms choose Webster care in the weeks before an ECV. We follow your OB's plan and never replace it.

What if my baby is still breech at the end?
Then your OB or midwife will talk with you about your options for delivery. Our job is to keep you comfortable and your pelvis balanced along the way. Whatever happens, you will have had the best starting point we can give you.
