Short answer: a personal injury chiropractor treats injuries caused by someone else — most often a car accident — and documents them so your insurance claim or case can use the records. Meridian does this at two offices, Southside Jacksonville and Orange Park, with same-day appointments, all auto insurance accepted, and letters of protection accepted.
What a personal injury chiropractor does
Two jobs happen at once. The first is treating the injury: the strained neck, the sore low back, the headaches that started after the crash. The second is the record. Every visit is documented, from the first exam to the day you are released from care, so your adjuster or attorney can see what was injured, what was done, and how you progressed.
Most personal injuries we see are musculoskeletal — muscles, ligaments, joints, and discs. That is the work chiropractors train for. Care is drug-free and non-surgical, and most people go back to work the same day.
Injuries we treat
- Car and truck accidents — whiplash, neck and back sprains, disc injuries, headaches after a crash
- Rideshare, motorcycle, and pedestrian accidents
- Slip and fall injuries — low back strains, shoulder, hip, and knee injuries
- Work injuries — lifting injuries and repetitive strain
- Sports injuries from recreational and competitive play
Florida's 14-day PIP rule
Hurt and not sure where to start?
Same-day appointments in Southside Jacksonville and Orange Park.
Request a CallbackFlorida is a no-fault state. After a car accident, your own Personal Injury Protection (PIP) coverage pays for medical care first — but only if your first visit happens within 14 days of the accident. Miss the window and the PIP medical benefit is forfeited. When you are seen in time, PIP pays up to $10,000 if an emergency medical condition is documented, and up to $2,500 if it is not. We see accident patients same-day so you are never close to the deadline.
Insurance, letters of protection, and billing
We accept all auto insurance. When PIP runs out or does not apply, we also accept letters of protection (LOPs) from your attorney. Ask the front desk how billing will work for your situation before your first visit — we would rather you know up front.
Working with your attorney
If you have a lawyer, we coordinate with their office from the start. Attorneys and paralegals get what a claim needs:
- Records sent the same day they are requested
- Documented exam findings and treatment notes for every visit
- Maximum medical improvement (MMI) determinations and impairment ratings when care is complete
- Direct contact with our office for status updates
Don't have an attorney? You don't need one to start care. Many patients come to us first and decide about legal help later.
What your first visit looks like
Your first visit takes about 45 minutes. We take a full history of the accident, run an orthopedic and neurological exam, and explain what we find in plain language. When treatment is safe and appropriate, it starts that day. You leave knowing what is injured, what the plan is, and how many visits to expect before your next re-check.
Bring a photo ID, your auto insurance card, and the crash report or claim number if you have one.
When to go to the ER instead
Call 911 or go to the emergency room first for loss of consciousness, a severe headache, confusion, chest or abdominal pain, numbness or weakness that is getting worse, or loss of bladder or bowel control. Once you are cleared, we are here for the recovery.
