04 — GOOD TO KNOW

Common car accident injuries we treat

Even low-speed collisions push the body through forces it is not built to absorb. We examine and treat the full range of accident injuries.

Whiplash and neck strain. Herniated or bulging discs. Soft tissue sprains. Low back pain from the impact. Shoulder and upper back injuries. Headaches that start after the crash. Sciatica triggered by trauma. Pinched nerves that send numbness or tingling into the arms or legs.

Why you might feel fine today and hurt tomorrow

Adrenaline masks pain for hours after a crash. Swelling in strained muscles and ligaments builds over the next day or two. That is why so many people wake up the morning after an accident with a stiff neck, a headache, or low back pain they did not feel at the scene.

Waiting to see if it goes away costs you twice. The injured tissue stiffens, your body starts moving around the pain, and the 14-day PIP window keeps running. An exam in the first few days answers the question either way.

Rear-end, side-impact, and rideshare crashes

Rear-end collisions are the classic whiplash crash: the body is pushed forward while the head lags behind, then snaps forward. Side-impact crashes load the neck and mid-back sideways and often injure the shoulder that hits the door. We see both every week.

Riding in an Uber or Lyft, or driving for one? The injuries are the same. Coverage can involve your own PIP, the rideshare company's policy, or both. Bring whatever claim information you have and we will help you sort out the next step.

What your first visit looks like

We start with how the crash happened: where you were sitting, which direction the impact came from, and what you have felt since. Then a full exam: range of motion, orthopedic tests, and a neurological screen of reflexes, strength, and sensation. If the exam calls for imaging, we arrange it.

You leave knowing what is injured, what we are going to do about it, and how often we expect to see you. Treatment usually starts that same day. Every finding goes into your record from the first visit, which is exactly what your insurer and your attorney will ask for.

05 — COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions, answered.

Should I see a chiropractor after a car accident?
Yes, even if you feel fine. Neck and back injuries from a crash often take a day or more to show up, and Florida's PIP law gives you only 14 days to get your first medical care. A chiropractor examines the spine, joints, muscles, and nerves, records every finding, and starts treatment that same day.
How soon after my accident should I come in?
As soon as you can, ideally within 24 to 72 hours. Under Florida's PIP 14-day rule, you need your first medical care within 14 days of the accident or you lose your PIP medical benefits. Early care also catches injuries before they stiffen and builds the records your claim depends on.
Do you work with auto insurance?
Yes. We accept all auto insurance. Bring your policy information and the accident report if you have it, and we will verify your coverage before care begins.
What is Florida's PIP 14-day rule?
Florida Statute 627.736 requires you to seek initial medical treatment within 14 days of an auto accident to access your Personal Injury Protection (PIP) benefits. Miss that window and your PIP medical benefits are forfeited entirely, not reduced. If you are treated within 14 days but no emergency medical condition is documented, your benefits are capped at $2,500 instead of the full $10,000.
I was in a minor fender-bender. Do I still need to be seen?
Yes, and this surprises a lot of people. Low-speed collisions can still strain the neck and back. Vehicle damage does not predict body damage, and some of the worst whiplash cases come from crashes that barely dented a bumper.
I have an attorney. Can you work with them?
Yes. We work with personal injury attorneys across Jacksonville. We accept letters of protection, send records the same day they are requested, and provide MMI evaluations and impairment ratings when a case needs them.
Do you have an office near Orange Park?
Yes. Our second office is at 1532 Kingsley Ave in Orange Park, serving Clay County, Fleming Island, Middleburg, and the Westside. Our Jacksonville office is on Old Baymeadows Road in Southside. Both offices see accident patients.
Do I need to bring anything to my first appointment?
Your auto insurance information and the date of the accident. The police report, claim number, and any photos from the scene help but are not required. If you have an attorney, bring their contact details.
